They’ll Break Our Backs.

This is an existential piece contributed by my sister Tiphanni. Withl all this talk of politics and reform, this pensive piece seemed apt for a contemplative Sunday afternoon such as this. Enjoy.
…………………….
There were two Mexicans trudging through the wilderness. Using plain, possibly flawed eyesight and moon light, they plowed their pickup truck up onwards through the night. They were chased right into a tree. Not up the tree, INTO the tree.
They were chased by Border Patrol after crossing the Tex-Mex Border. One had just gash on his head; though he could feel his extremities the other’s back was bent at a 45 degree angle.
This incident got me thinking about night vision. Be it, night vision goggles, helicopter spotlights or infra-red devices, you know Border patrol had night vision capabilities. With all that modern equipment, the government agents were not able to commandeer these men to safe and injury less halt?
There was THIS world once, we are told by Darwin , which any man at any time, might traverse, if but the temperance of the wind, literally. Yet today, when we have come so far with knowledge and technology, we have only been able to build better fences and better walls. Better ways to keep each other in check and OUT. We need permission, permission that oft never be granted. So all most can do is stand in their own lands, in their own yards, and look if even beckon at our neighbours. STAND there, because we may not walk to meet them.
If we do, they’ll break our backs.
