Designing a Perfect Front Page for your Webcomic – Part 1

New webcomic creators not are using free comic hosting services like Webcomic Planet, Comic Genius, Smack Jeeves or Drunk Duck have the added responsibility on top of producing their web content of designing their own sites. Designing a site is much less about mulling over what colours to use for dramatic effect than it is about deciding what content to put where. In this article we will tackle landscaping a webcomic’s front page, the prime real estate of such sites.
1. By doing a bit of research, new webcomickers will note that most major webcomics have their webcomics placed front and center of their sites and it is often the first thing that is seen when one opens their sites. Your comic MUST also be immediately accessible to readers and they should be made to go through the least amount of clicks to reach your comic.
2. Your webcomic front page MUST have a working navigation system that takes readers from the First to the Last comic, going though the Latest and Previous comics in a working Archive system and if possible allow them to select a Random Comic at will. Using a WordPress blog paired with either Webcomic with InkBlot, or Stripshow or ComicPress plugins will adequately provide for your navigation needs
